Luis Figueroa
Luis was born and raised in Brooklyn N.Y. Luis received his undergraduate degree from the State University of NY at Geneseo, where he was awarded a Graduate of the Year recognition. He then attended Law School at Syracuse University where he earned his Juris Doctor Degree with honors. While a student at both universities, he received recognition awards for both his scholastic achievements and community service.
Upon graduation, Luis began his career as an Assistant City Attorney in Tampa. He served as a police legal adviser for the City of Tampa Police Department and went on to become the lead trial attorney for several major insurance companies. He has tried numerous cases on both state and federal levels throughout Florida. He also has several reported decisions from Florida Appellate Courts and the Florida Supreme Court.
Since 2002, Luis has concentrated his efforts exclusively for clients that have been injured by the negligence of others.
Luis is a Florida Board Certified Specialist in Civil Trial Litigation. Civil Trial Board Certification demonstrates an attorney’s special knowledge, skills and proficiencies in civil trial litigation and their professionalism and ethics in practice. Only 7% of Florida Lawyers are Board Certified.
Luis has been featured as a lecturer in Tort Litigation and Ethics by several professional organizations and has also been published in several legal periodicals. He is a former vice president of the Puerto Rican Bar Association of Florida and a past officer of the Hispanic Bar Association of Central Florida. He has also served on the Florida Bar Continuing Education Committee. He is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
Luis resides in Tampa and is active in various law related, civic and religious organizations. He is a Member of the Florida Bar, The Florida Justice Association, The Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association, The Hillsborough County Bar Association, and the Tampa Bay Hispanic Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in all Florida State Courts, the Federal Middle District Court of Florida, the Federal Northern District Court of Florida, the Federal Southern District Court of Florida, and the United States Supreme Court. Luis is also an active member of his church and a member of the Krewe Of Sant Yago, and The Italian Club of Tampa.
Luis is fully bilingual in Spanish.
