Meet Attorney John Castro
John Castro learned the value of hard work early. The youngest of four children of first-generation American parents, he was born in Memphis and spent part of his childhood in Irvine, California. There he took on a paper route at age nine and worked in the school cafeteria to earn his lunch. When his family moved to Tampa in 1991, he put down roots, and Tampa has been home ever since.
John began his legal career representing the defense in personal injury and wrongful death cases. That work showed him how the other side evaluates a claim and where it looks for weaknesses. Today he uses that knowledge to build stronger cases for injured people. He then came home to Tampa as a prosecutor, where he tried cases, argued motions, and sharpened the courtroom skills that still set him apart.
In 2010, John opened his own practice, and in 2019 he joined Ligori & Ligori to work alongside a team that shared his commitment to clients. He was named an equity partner in 2023. Over more than 20 years, he has tried and settled multiple million-dollar cases. What drives him hasn't changed since that first paper route: show up, do the work, and never quit on the people counting on you.
